Julie & Julia

I thought the movie Julie & Julia was a good movie overall. She completed her goal of cooking all the recipes in 365 days, even through the difficult times she faced. It was also interesting to see how Julia came to getting her book published. Although, I didn't like how Julia said she didn't like Julie's blog. I don't understand why that happened. Even so, I would probably recommend this movie to my mom and aunts.

Julie and Julia

#1 How are the concepts you are currently learning about in class/school reflected in the movie Julie & Julia?

In class we're learning to push ourselves to do our best and not give up. In the movie we also see Julie cooking everyday, trying to do her best, and also never give up. She pushes herself everyday, even when she's sick, to cook and blog.

#2 Pick one of the following career lesson we can learn from Julia and respond.

-Invest in yourself
Julia didn’t speak French when she arrived in France. In fact, she says her French seemed to get worse the more she tried to use it and she was surprised the French could understand her at all. “…my inability to communicate was hugely frustrating,” she wrote. One night after a party of mostly French speakers, she’d had it. She declared she was going to learn to speak the language no matter what it took and signed up for a language class that met for six hours each week, plus homework.

This teaches us to never give up, always push ourselves and do our best. If we always invest in ourselves we can always learn new things and become better. Even when things get hard, we have to keep trying.

Questions

What are your interests, hobbies and/or passion?

I love to paint. I pretty much paint landscapes because I find that the most interesting. My grandpa, grandma, mom, and sister are all painters also, so i suppose I got my talent from them. I also like to do hair, makeup and nails. Although, I learned how to do that myself when I was in 7th grade and still enjoy finding new ways to paint my nails, or do my hair. Another thing I enjoy doing is playing volleyball, even though I'm not on a team anymore, it's always fun to get a bunch of friends or family together and play.

Do you think that you have to have your life completely figured out by the age of 30? Why or why not?

For me, I would hope I would have my life completely figured out by the age of 30 because I pretty much know what I want to do already. I hope to be a nurse, mother, and wife by the age of 30.
